The Prisoner (+Contest Winners)
In this episode of The Brain Food Show, we start by announcing our current contest winners as well as launch a new contest. Next up we get into the meat of the episode discussing the remarkable individual who volunteered to be sent to Auschwitz, why he wanted to go, and what happened next. We finish off by discussing an interesting bonus fact about the company Bayer.
If you’d like to learn more about Witold Pilecki as well as read in his own words about much of what is discussed in this episode, go check out: The Auschwitz Volunteer: Beyond Bravery
On another note, if you could do us a huge favor and rate and review this show in whatever podcasting platform you’re using (including hopefully giving us some feedback related to the new format), we would be extremely grateful. Thanks!

Truly remarkable story, thank you for posting this. I enjoyed the video you did about him as well.
I’ve been listening to you on Spotify for a couple of months now and I’m happy with the new format. The first few episodes were a bit hard to follow due ‘too much information’ in one go – I mean there’s the story in the title and then there’s a whole lot of unrelated sections along with it, that distract from the topic. At times I had to check I was still listening to the same episode. I liked the whistle 😉
I had listened to another podcast -The History Of Rome- that had a guitar intro, so that’s what your guitar reminds me of now. That was a very good podcast as well.
I like the multiple-part aspect and it’s a great way to break-down a bigger topic. By all means continue doing that because it makes the podcast easier to ‘digest’. One way you could streamline this further would be to go into the topic from the start and then go through the other sections -a bit like you do in your wonderful videos…..and maybe a little less rambling?!
Entertaining though it may be, for me, that get’s in the way of the point you’re trying to get across.
I love the Today in History videos (bit of a history nerd here) and am happy you’re making it into a separate channel. Here are some name suggestions:
The Daily History Dose/Bit
Historical Daily Digest
The Historical Diary
Historical ‘Dear Diary’
I really enjoy your podcasts and often play them while I work, and this was one of my favourite episodes so far. what a story, and such a heartbreaking ending.
I just want to share my gratitude for all the content you guys produce, whether its the Top Tenz or the Today I found out videos, and even the Viusal Politik videos! You guys put a lot of time and effort in all this content, and it’s definitely appreciated.
Thanks!
